The purpose of this organization is to equip graduate and professional students-especially PhD, MD, PharmD, MPH, MS, and other advanced degree trainees-with the skills, exposure, and structured preparation needed to pursue competitive careers in management, life sciences, and healthcare consulting. We will achieve this by positioning UIC as a school of interest for consulting firms, building rigorous training programs, facilitating industry partnerships, creating a structured consulting pipeline, and ensuring members receive mentorship, experiential learning opportunities, and professional development aligned with consulting excellence.

Advanced degree students in the life sciences develop an exceptional skill set through years of rigorous training-yet many are never shown a clear, structured pathway to apply those skills beyond academia.
At ADCSC, we exist to close that gap.
We believe that PhD, MD, PharmD, MPH, and MS trainees already possess highly transferable, industry-relevant capabilities, including critical thinking, data analysis, problem-solving, evidence synthesis, strategic reasoning, scientific communication, stakeholder engagement, and project management. What is often missing is not ability-but structure, exposure, and guidance.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create a clear, intentional framework that helps advanced degree students recognize the value of their training and confidently translate it into careers across consulting, biopharma, healthcare, medical affairs, strategy, and industry leadership. Through structured case practice, real-world consulting projects, professional mentorship, and targeted skill-building, we demystify the transition from academia to industry. We want students to know that there is a path and that they don’t have to navigate it alone. ADCSC is built to turn academic excellence into professional impact.
